A working village, not a resort strip

Nikiti sits at the neck of Sithonia, where the peninsula's pine-covered spine meets the Aegean. It is one of the larger settlements on this middle leg of Chalkidiki, and unlike the purpose-built resorts further south it stays open and lived-in through the year.

The old village climbs the hillside behind the shore in stone and timber, while the newer town runs along a long, shallow beach and its promenade of tavernas. The surrounding hills are long-established beekeeping country, and Nikiti honey is sold across Greece. From here the whole peninsula is within an easy drive: the sheltered lagoon at Vourvourou to the east, the marina at Porto Carras to the south, and the quieter bays of the far cape beyond.
